Current Production Staff Opportunties

It takes all kinds of talents to run a successful production!  Whether you're experienced or new, we have something for you on our production staff.  We believe in growth & development of our volunteers and welcome any opportunities to teach and to learn among our group.

All current production staff opportunities are listed below.  Please be mindful of deadlines for full consideration, but we accept applications on a rolling basis to fill positions not yet filled by the application deadline.

Please note that at this time, all production staff roles are volunteer, unpaid positions.

To maintain compliance with state laws and ensure the safety of minors, volunteers (including actors and crew) may need to obtain clearances if the production team or cast includes minors.

Looking for ushering and other FOH volunteer opportunities?

See our volunteer page!

Minor Volunteers & Clearances

Minors aged 14-17 interested in volunteering on a production team should first seek permission from a parent or guardian and then fill out an interest form. We will reach out to you and your parent/guardian regarding your interest.

For minors under 14, parental supervision is required for all involvement. Parents should reach out to us at sockandbuskintc@gmail.com if your child under 14 is interested in getting involved.

In accordance with State Laws, Sock & Buskin requires clearances for all of its adult volunteers, cast, and crew that have regular contact with a minor on any of our productions. See our How-To document for information on obtaining and submitting clearances.

Rapture, Blister, Burn
A contemporary comedy/dramedy by Gina Gionfriddo

Performances: June 21 & 22, 2024 @ The Boal Barn Playhouse
Auditions:
TBD

Synopsis: After grad school, Catherine and Gwen chose polar opposite paths. Catherine built a career as a rockstar academic, while Gwen built a home with her husband and children. Decades later, unfulfilled in polar opposite ways, each woman covets the other’s life, commencing a dangerous game of musical chairs—the prize being Gwen’s husband. With searing insight and trademark wit, this comedy is an unflinching look at gender politics in the wake of 20th-century feminist ideals.

Rehearsal for Murder
A melodrama/suspense adapted for the stage by D.D. Brooke
from the television play by Richard Levinson and William Link
Performances: September 26, 27, & 28, 2024 @ The Boal Barn Playhouse
 Auditions: TBD

Synopsis: This is a thrilling "theatrical" mystery in which your theatre becomes the set for the play. The playwright turns on the stage work light and prepares for the first reading of his new play. The actors, producer, director and others connected with the show come onto the stage, and under their humorous (and utterly real) theatrical talk, tension grows. We discover that everyone connected with this play was involved with another play by the same playwright. At its opening night, exactly a year ago and in this same theatre, the beautiful leading lady, who was also the playwright's fiancee, was murdered! As these people start with the new play, startling connections to the murder begin to unfold. The growing tension reaches the boiling point with surprising revelations, countered by others even more surprising. The dazzling, yet basically logical twists build to a climax and solution that are theatrically stunning!

Cutthroat Christmas: Part II
A holiday murder mystery comedy by Kari Williamson & Stefanie R. Austin

To be performed as interactive dinner theatre
Performances: December 12, 13 & 14, 2024 @ Titan Hollow
Auditions:

Synopsis:

A permanent CEO has still not been named since the murderous outcome of their last holiday party and the competition remains as cutthroat as ever. Will the CEO be Michael, former nepotism-hire trying to prove himself, or Greg, salesman-turned-chauvinist with a flair for the dramatic? And can we get through the night without another murder?

Featuring some of your favorite characters from the last show plus memorable new ones, you'll be laughing nonstop in this wacky sequel. And if you missed the original, don't worry - we'll summarize it all for you and you won't miss a beat! Join us as a potential investor at the Kringle holiday party, where anything can - and probably will - happen.

Shadowing Program

Have you ever been interested in learning more about the behind-the-scenes roles in theatre? Do you want to get more experience and confidence before applying for a production role? Do you want to expand your theatre production skillset?

Now's your chance! We offer informal shadowing on all our full-length productions. In the shadowing program, individuals interested in gaining the skills and confidence to take on new production roles may shadow a person in that role for one or more productions.

If you're a shadow:

You will observe a staff member as they conduct their duties, and will often assist them in ther duties. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and production staff are encouraged to provide you with hands-on learning experiences. You may also assist with other aspects of the production.

Note that in some cases you can shadow a role and serve in another production role on the same show; for example, someone may be a costume and prop designer while also shadowing the stage manager.

If you have a shadow:

You will allow your "shadow" to observe, participate, and ask questions throughout the process. Shadowing does not require you to be an expert in your role, but does require you to provide a welcoming environment, demonstrate and explain duties and tasks, and provide opportunities for the individual to have hands-on learning experiences as appropriate.

Because of our goals of building a welcoming, vibrant community, and educating individuals on various aspects of theatre, when filling production roles, preference is given to those who are willing to participate in the shadow program.

How to participate:

To participate in the shadow program, simply indicate your interest on the production application for the specific production(s) in which you are interested. Note that at this time we do not have a form to indicate general interest.
