Ken Ludwig's
A Fox on the Fairway

May 1, 2, and 3 at 7:30pm
May 4 at 2:00pm
Sundman Hall at the American Philatelic Society
(Bellefonte, PA)

A tribute from Ken Ludwig (Lend Me A Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo) to the great English farces of the 1930s and 1940s, A Fox On the Fairway takes audiences on a hilarious romp, which pulls the rug out from underneath the stuffy denizens of a private country club. It's a furiously paced comedy that recalls the Marx Brothers' classics. A charmingly madcap adventure about love, life, and man's eternal love affair with...golf.

Meet The Cast

Eric Ziegler

Henry Bingham

Eric is very proud to be a part of this wonderful, wacky farce and this talented cast & crew! Eric was last seen on stage in Sock & Buskin’s The Witching Hour and Moon Over Buffalo. Prior to that, he performed with the Community Theatre League in Williamsport in their production of White Christmas. He has also acted with the State College Community Theatre (Barefoot In The Park, Dial M for Murder, The Drowsy Chaperone, Jekyll & Hyde, and others), Nittany Theatre (A Man for All Seasons, Funny Money, Neil Simon's Rumors, Treasure Island), and other groups (1776, Cheaper by the Dozen, and others.) He thanks his loved ones for their continued support and thanks YOU for coming and supporting Sock & Buskin and this area’s local theatre. “Chucka, Chucka, Chucka!” Enjoy the show!

Kim Plummer

Pamela Peabody

Kim is excited to be part of a show with such a talented cast, director, and crew. She is employed as the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations for Penn State Dickinson Law/School of International Affairs at Penn State University. She has appeared in many local theatre productions, most recently in Sock & Buskin’s productions of Rehearsal for Murder (Sep.) and War of The Worlds (Oct.). Other stage credits include: Much Ado About Nothing, Juror #6 in 12 Angry Jurors, Ma/Francesca in Go Wilder: Two One Act Plays by Thornton Wilder, Mrs. Peacock in Clue: On Stage, Violet Newstead in 9 to 5: The Musical, Billie Dawn in Born Yesterday, Elvira in Blithe Spirit, Belinda Blair in Noises Off, and Gabriella in Boeing, Boeing. She wishes to thank her family for always supporting her love of theatre.

David Schillinger

Justin Hicks

David is delighted to be making his Sock & Buskin debut in A Fox on the Fairway! He also performs regularly with Happy Valley Improv where he spends his time making bold and questionable choices. Previous theater credits include One Man, Two Guvnors; Marat/Sade (ask him about that one sometime); Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead; Monty Python’s Spamalot; Bedroom Farce; Oedipus Rex; The Importance of Being Earnest; Once Upon a Mattress; Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella; Little Women; The Secret Garden; The Phantom of the Opera; High School Musical; and Anything Goes. Big thanks to his loving family, supportive friends, hilarious cast, and dedicated crew.

Stefanie Austin

Louise Heindbedder  |  Producer

Stefanie is the current President and a Founding Director of Sock & Buskin Theatre Company. She is a playwright, actor, director, producer, and everything in between. Most recently, you may have seen her as director and actor (Monica Welles) in Rehearsal For Murder (Sep.) or as producer and sound designer in Cutthroat Christmas: Deadly Deals (Dec.). This September, she will be directing Lucille Fletcher’s Night Watch. As a playwright, she publishes murder mystery scripts through her business, Knock ‘Em Dead Scripts, and the plays have been performed throughout the U.S., Canada, and U.K. She is incredibly grateful for the S&B community. Thanks for supporting local theatre!

Kyle Stanley

Dickie Bell  |   Assistant Director

Kyle is thrilled to be putting on A Fox on the Fairway with this hilarious cast and crew! Since discovering the stage in 2022, he has acted and worked on productions with SCCT (Dead Tuesday and Clue) and Sock & Buskin (86’ed, The Witching Hour; Sorry, Wrong Number; Beginnings; and Rehearsal for Murder). Kyle hails from Vermont, and also lived in Maine and Massachusetts before moving to State College in 2020 to pursue a Statistics PhD. He would like to thank his friends and family for coming to see the show!

Heidi Cole

Muriel Bingham

Heidi is thrilled to return for another S&B production—though you may find yourself wondering if she’s actually in it. Rest assured, she is. She made her stage debut as The Cook and The Singing Telegram Girl in Clue: On Stage with SCCT and has since performed in five other SCCT productions. Her roles with S&B include Claudia McFadden in Suite Surrender, Mrs. Stevenson in Sorry, Wrong Number, Carol Newhart/GG4 in Cutthroat Christmas: Deadly Deals, Mr. Paravicini in The Mousetrap, and Charlotte in 86’ed. Heidi has also brought characters to life in S&B fundraisers, playing Soul in Terror in Transylvania and Darla the Maid in The Mystery of Murder Hotel. When she’s not on stage, you can often find her belting out tunes at karaoke. Ms. Cole is deeply grateful for the support of a small but mighty group of "fans" and the performers she considers family—thank you for being part of the journey!

J Lance Wilkinson

The Starter

Lance is happy to tread the boards once again since returning to the stage in 2015. Prior appearances include roles with State College Community Theatre (Annie Get Your Gun, Gypsy, Footloose: The Musical, 9 to 5: The Musical, The Wedding Singer, As You Like It, Murder Me Always, Murd-ARR!!! Pirates of the Salty Dog, Dead Tuesday, Clue: On Stage, The Blitz Sisters, All My Murders, Honeymoon From Hell); Nittany Theatre (A Man For All Seasons, Mamma Mia!); and Sock & Buskin (Cutthroat Christmas, Cutthroat Christmas: Deadly Deals, The Final Rose, The Will To Kill, Rehearsal for Murder). He also performed in Jerry Sawyer's Arthur and Merlin, in Mary and Elizabeth: A Conversation, and in several PSU Student Films. Thanks to Vija for indulging him yet again, and for the support from family and friends and the welcoming and growing State College theatre community.

Jace Beauton

Offstage Voices  |  Stage Manager

Jace is delighted to work with such a wonderful cast and crew. This is their fifth show with Sock & Buskin, previously stage managing Cutthroat Christmas: Deadly Deals, and having other tech involvement in Rehearsal for Murder and Rapture, Blister, Burn. Jace is excited for everyone to see this hilarious show, and is proud of all the hard work that the cast and crew has put into it.

Meet The Production Team

Joe Appel

Director

Joe Appel recently marked 3 years in State College where he works in student support at PSU, a job he truly loves. He wishes to thank this exceptional cast for the dedication and trust that went into this experience, not to mention the many, many laughs! We can be proud of what we have created together. Thanks to Stef for the chance to direct and for taking care of everything imaginable, and to Jace for keeping it all moving so well. Utmost gratitude goes to Kyle for the synergy, inspiration, and partnership that has given rise to so much, but in particular, the vision for this show which materialized over innumerable hours of conversation and laughter, and has produced memories that will last ‘for forever.’ Joe sends lots of love to his students, colleagues, and family and friends back home in Brooklyn…“Jump, I will catch you.”

Peter Austin

Set Crew

Pete started with community theatre set design and construction in 2021 when he was (strongly) encouraged to do so by his wife, Stefanie. He has worked on set pieces for at least eight productions, but he’s lost count. He figures it’s a good use of his engineering doctoral degree. When he’s not working or designing sets, Pete enjoys video games, board games, watercolor painting, the occasional game of golf (sometimes simulated), and playing with his kids and dogs.

Chip Taylor

Sound Designer/Technician

Chip is returning for another round of noisemaking fun! He would like to extend a heartfelt “THANKS!” to the cast and rest of the crew, as well as to Sock & Buskin for such a wonderful opportunity!

Phillip Zapkin

Tech/Set Crew

Phillip Zapkin emerged from years in his non-theatrical cocoon to direct Sock & Buskin’s production of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap and has since been involved in most shows S&B has done in some capacity or another. For A Fox on the Fairway, Phillip is general tech dogsbody, helping with set construction, sound, and lighting as needed.

Andi Stout

Marketing/Content Creator

Andi Stout is an award-winning and publishing writer who enjoys using her writing skills to help promote and celebrate Sock & Buskin’s talented actors and amazing shows.

Kaitlyn Huff

Lighting Technician

Kaitlyn shines again as light operator for her fifth show with Sock & Buskin. When she's not powering the lights, Kaitlyn can be found relaxing in the backyard with her dog, Ozzy, contemplating the importance of which toy he will chase next.

April Cockburn

Props Designer

April returns to Sock & Buskin, this time armed with a laser cutter, a sewing machine, and a flair for logo design. Whether it’s signage or golf-themed pillows, she’s making sure A Fox on the Fairway is teed up in style—and hopes her props don’t wind up in the rough.

Daniel Skiles

Set Crew

Folklorists attribute the persistence of “Daniel Skiles” to a deep-seated cultural need that is reflected in the broader zeitgeist. Debate rages as to the specific nature of that need.

Edward Bulleck

Set Crew

Ed is semi-retired and likes to keep busy by gardening, hunting, fishing, watching the Eagles and Phillies, and playing with his grandkids. Somehow he got roped into building flats by his daughter, Stefanie. As a proud father, he drives up from NJ for every show she’s in, including this one.
